Cross Door with Raised Panels

The cross door in both the raised and flat panel versions is self explanatory. The vertical and horizontal rail form a cross. This door has been very popular lately. The only decisions that you will have to make will be whether you want a more contemporary look with the flat panel design, or a more traditional look with the raised panel. Then, of course, there are the the types of wood that you can purchase this door style.

Our Cross Doors with Raised Panels is made up of three parts:

  • Panels- Raised Panels float within the frame of the door, and are not glued to allow for expansion and contraction of the door panels. Raised Panel doors styles can have either horizontal or vertical panels.* All horizontal panels have horizontal wood grain.
  • Stiles- The two long vertical pieces on each side of the door. One side is attached to the door jamb with hinges. The other side is bored for the door knob or lever, so that it can be latch to the jamb when shut.
  • Rails- the horizontal and/or vertical pieces in the door that surround the panels and attach to the stiles.
