Victorian 6 Panel Door with Raised Panels
This six panel door has the same exact panel sizes as our standard six panel door (#5503), except with this style the top two panels are switched in position with the middle two panels. This panel configuration was probably first done in the Victorian period, named after England's' Queen Victoria. Homes in this period were created with a very ornate look, with more detailed moldings, and other other details with more complex lines. With the arts and crafts period, appearing later, mainly in America, this door style was modified to include flat panels, for a cleaner simpler look. Whatever the look wanted, variations of this door style will accommodate it. As with the standard six panel #5503, this door also accommodates being turned into a dutch door.

Our Victorian 6 Panel Doors with Raised Panels is made up of three parts:

  • Panels- Raised Panels float within the frame of the door, and are not glued to allow for expansion and contraction of the door panels. Raised Panel doors styles can have either horizontal or vertical panels.* All horizontal panels have horizontal wood grain.
  • Stiles- The two long vertical pieces on each side of the door. One side is attached to the door jamb with hinges. The other side is bored for the door knob or lever, so that it can be latch to the jamb when shut.
  • Rails- the horizontal and/or vertical pieces in the door that surround the panels and attach to the stiles.
